CHSA - ALS Instructor Course 2016

CHSA - ALS Instructor Course

The ALS Instructor Course is a combined online / skills workshop program developed to train and re-certify ALS instructors working with Country Health SA. The course is delivered as part of the Rural Emergency Skills Program (RESP) with funding provided by the Australian Commonwealth Government through the EMET initiative.

The course has been developed to provide ALS instructors with a broad understanding of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines for Basic Airway Management, Immediate assessment and Resuscitation of the Critically ill Patient, Basic and Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Management of the patient with Acute myocardial ischaemia. The workshop provides the opportunity for facilitators to achieve confidence and demonstrate competency in the core skills of the ALS course and become familiar with the approach to teaching procedural skills, simulation and skill assessment. The first day will focus on ensuring facilitators achieve confidence and competency in the core skills of the ALS course and the second day will focus on techniques for teaching practical skills, simulation and skill assessment.

There are 8 modules in the Pre-learning for the ALS Facilitator program. The modules comprise the pre-learning that candidates undertaking ALS training are required to complete prior to the face to face workshop.
