Pre-learning: Emergency Procedures 2016

Pre-learning: Procedural Workshop

In this pre-learning we focus on the assessment and management of the trauma patient. How we approach the management of the injured patient in the first few minutes may significantly determine their chances of survival, risk for complications, and long-term disability. In trauma patients we face the challenge of multiple potential injuries and setting priorities in treatment.

The clinical case described in this pre-learning enables us to consider a range of emergency procedures, many of which will be the subject of the procedural skills workshop, including chest tube insertion, needle thoracostomy and IO insertion.
