CHSA - ALS PreLearning
Latest Course update : January 2018
The 2017 ALS Course is a combined online/skills workshop program developed by LearnEM and Country Health SA to provide nurses with a broad understanding of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines for
- Basic and Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- ECG interpretation in acute myocardial ischaemia and Cardiac arrhythmias
- Immediate assessment and Resuscitation of the Critically Ill Patient
- Basic Airway Management
- Noninvasive ventilation
The ALS course is a blended program. This means that some of the learning is done online (eLearning) and some undertaken face-to-face in a workshop setting.
The online component is divided into 9 sections or modules. In the first four modules we focus on managing cardiac arrest or intervening to prevent cardiac arrest in the patient with acute myocardial ischaemia, cardiac arrhythmia, or foreign body airway obstruction. In the remaining 5 modules we shift our attention to the assessment and resuscitation of the critically ill and deteriorating patient and explore in particular airway obstruction, respiratory distress, noninvasive ventilation, and circulatory shock.
For each module additional clinical resources are provided. These are for reference or to assist in clinical work. There is no requirement to open or view these as part of the course.
Access is restricted to those registered for CHSA - ALS Training
