Two-day case-based workshop on Emergency Paediatrics

 

Managing the seriously ill child can be one of the most frightening and distressing experiences for the clinician. In this workshop we explore the immediate assessment and treatment of the seriously ill child beginning by examining the assessment and treatment of immediate life threatening problems to the airway, breathing, circulation and central nervous system and then examine the range of life threatening diseases that occur in the young child and baby.

The workshop is taught using a case based approach and illustrated by demonstrated clinical simulations. The workshop is suited to medical officers (GPs, ED medical officers, Training MOs), Nurses, Paramedics and Students.

Presentations covered in the program include:

Anaphylaxis, Neonatal Sepsis, Meningitis, Severe Respiratory Disease, Upper airway obstruction, Seizures, Vomiting/Dehydration, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Foreign body Ingestion, Surgical emergencies, Non-Accidental Injury, BRUE, Paediatric Exanthums / Rashes
