Cardiorespiratory arrest in the child is most commonly the result of severe hypoxaemia or hypotension and may be caused by a wide variety of life-threatening conditions including trauma, drowning, upper airway obstruction, congenital heart disease and sepsis. While there many similarities between adult and paediatric basic and advanced life support there are however a number of significant differences and these are explored in the Case Simulation of a child in cardiac arrest.
