ASUM Accredited Basic Echocardiography in Life Support Training
The BELS course explores basic echocardiography and ultrasound of the inferior vena cava for the assessment in the patient with shock and in cardiac arrest. The workshop focuses on the application of ultrasound to examination of the IVC and the Heart, recognition of ultrasound anatomy and pathophysiology.
The course is taught jointly by Sonographers and ED consultants and delivered delivered using a combination of online learning of core material with a hands-on skills/simulation workshop.

Imaging of the heart using the 4 cardiac views

Imaging of the Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)

Using Ultrasound to identify Cardiac Tamponade, Cardiogenic Shock, Massive Pulmonary Embolism, Sepsis and Hypovolaemia
PLEASE NOTE : The workshop assumes prior ultrasound knowledge and attendance of a previous ultrasound courses such as the LearnEM - Bedside Emergency Ultrasound Course.
