EDGE24: Emergency Medicine

For Medical officers, Nurses, Midwives, Paramedics and Students

EDGE24: Emergency Medicine is an eLearning course suited for medical officers, nurses, paramedics and students wishing to upskill in emergency medicine. The course provides a broad introduction to core topics in emergency medicine including ECG and blood gas interpretation, chest pain, headache, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, agitation, first trimester bleeding, paediatric emergencies, trauma, pain management, eye and ENT emergencies

The EDGE24 course has four additional modules:

• Recognising and Managing Sepsis,

• Paediatric Respiratory Distress

• Assessment and Emergency Management of Burns

• Snake and Spider bite

Flexible to your learning needs

The course can be taken as individual modules (choose the modules relevant to your practice). Each module comes with a CPD certificate for 1.5 CPD hours. You can learn in your time as you have 12 months to complete the module.

Alternatively you can choose to do the whole course. This is the cost effective option but will require you to complete the course in 12 months (no pressure !). You will be able to obtain a CPD certificate for 36 CPD hours when you complete all 24 modules.

Nb. For Medical Officers wishing to obtain RACGP/ACCRM CPD the entire course must be completed.

For GPs the course is an accredited CPD activity for the 2023-2025 triennium with ACRRM (Course Code: 28766: 24.5 Educational Activity and 11.5 Reviewing Performance Hours and 6 Emergency Medicine MOPS Points) and RACGP (Course Code: 403496: 24.5 Educational Activity and 11.5 Reviewing Performance Hours).

Options for Registration

Modules 1: (Seriously Ill Patient) and 2: (Anaphylaxis) are free to access and provide you with the opportunity to take the course for a test run !
