Prelearning : Cardiac Arrhythmias
This course explores the clinical approach and ECG diagnosis of patients presenting with four classes of arrhythmias:: regular narrow complex tachycardia, irregular tachycardia, broad complex tachycardia and bradycardia. Immediate treatment priorities are considered including the clinical features of vital organ hypoperfusion, red flag arrhythmias associated with a high risk for rapid deterioration/cardiac arrest, ECG diagnosis and emergency management of Supraventricular tachycardai, Rapid AF, Ventricular Tachycardia and Complete Heart Block.
The course will specifically review:
-
ECG features and differential diagnosis of regular narrow complex tachycardia, irregular tachycardia, broad complex tachycardia and bradycardia
-
Recognition of "Red Flag" arrhythmias at high risk for rapid/sudden deterioration
-
Emergency management of rapid atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and complete heart block
-
Indications, contraindications and adverse effects of common anti-arrhythmic agents
-
Role of electrical therapy in the management of arrhythmias
