Latest Course Update: June 2024

The use of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to image the abdomen and pelvis is an extremely useful skill for the assessment of patients with suspected aortic aneurysm, major trauma and first trimester bleeding. In addition POCUS may be used to image the lungs in the trauma patient to identify haemothorax and pneumothorax and has provided a useful tool for a wide range of clinical procedures. This is a very exciting area of advancing medical practice and one that will continue to evolve in coming years as the technology advances and research provides us with greater understanding.

In this course we explore the following topics:

1. Ultrasound of the Aorta

2. Trauma: FAST and eFAST

3. First Trimester

4. Ultrasound assisted Procedures
