Neonatal Resusctiation

In this topic we examine the approach to recognising and treating neonatal emergencies.

• In the first module we explore the clinical clues or "red flags" that may assist in recognising serious illness in a neonate and focus particularly on the importance of considering and treating sepsis in the neonate.

• In the second module we review the procedure for “resuscitation” of the flat newborn. As time is critical after birth of a child it is important to be able to identify the infant requiring urgent resuscitation and be familiar with the steps in resuscitation.
