Choose the Training You Need

The workshop has concurrent sessions allowing you to choose your training. The workshop is designed for GPs, Training MOs, ED MOs, Nurses, Paramedics and Students

Join us for this exciting two day workshop that will allow you the opportunity to learn / develop your wound management skills (including suturing techniques), plastering skills for managing fractures, ECG interpretation, diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmias, management of the sick child and be able to manage common obstetric and gynaecological emergencies.

The bedside ultrasound workshop is for MOs, Nurses, Paramedics and Student and has been especially designed to introduce you to the core skills needed for clinical practice including how to use the ultrasound for IV access and other clinical procedures. The ultrasound workshop assumes no pre-existing knowledge of ultrasound and is a great way to discover the possibilities of ultrasound in your clinical setting.

Workshop Program

The course is delivered using concurrent sessions. Participants select FOUR of the following areas of learning in the two day workshop. Each topic is delivered in a half day session.

  1. ECG Interpretation

  2. Diagnosis / Treatment of Cardiac Arrhythmias

  3. Paediatric Emergencies

  4. Obstetric and Gynaecologic Emergencies

  5. Wound management including suturing

  6. Application of Plaster casts for fractures

  7. Bedside Ultrasound : FAST, US guided IV access / Procedures

  8. Bedside Ultrasound for Nurses and Paramedics

Facilitators 

The multidisciplinary teaching team include an Emergency Physician, Rural GP Obstetrician, US Sonographer, Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant. Members of the the teaching team have wide experience in the areas of emergency medicine, rural based acute care, clinical education and training and bedside ultrasound.
