For EDGE24 modules you are not yet enrolled in, you are directed to enrol in the equivalent EDGE26 module and continue your path through the EDGE course. At the completion of all 24 modules you will be able to request an EDGE26 Course Certificate (36 CPD Hours).

EDGE24 Module 6 : Recognition and Management of Sepsis

EDGE24Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body's response to infection injures its own tissues and organs. It is a common cause for life threatening deterioration and is associated with a high mortality rate !

In this module we consider the clinical presentation of sepsis and the current approach to the management of the patient where the emphasis is on correcting or preventing circulatory shock and reducing the risk widespread organ dysfunction characteristic of severe sepsis. Early recognition and treatment is critical to survival as the presence of sepsis substantially increases the risk for ICU care or death, early recognition and treatment are critical.


Accreditation

A "Course Certificate" for 36 CPD hours can be requested upon completion of all 24 modules. The course is CPD accredited for the 2023-2025 triennium with ACRRM (Course Code : 28766) and RACGP (Course Code : 403496: 24.5 Educational Activity and 11.5 Reviewing Performance Hours).
