LearnEM CRASH Course
Critical Care ~ Resuscitation ~ Advanced Life Support
CRASH: Critical Care, Resuscitation, Advanced life support, Simulation and skills training for Hospital-based resuscitation
The CRASH course provides essential skills in critical care, resuscitation and ALS for Rural Practitioners and GPs, Training Medical Officers and Registrars, CMOs, and Nurse Practitioners required to care for emergency patients.
CRASH combines online pre-learning with a two day skills/simulation workshop at LearnEM's Training Centre in Adelaide. The workshop features intensive small group training in procedural skills and clinical simulation in the assessment and recognition of serious illness, resuscitation, stabilisation and transfer of the critically ill, and team skills, communication and clinical leadership.
Procedural workshops include advanced airway management and cricothyrotomy, mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, difficult vascular access, cardioversion/pacing, ALS - CPR, neonatal resuscitation, communication and leadership.
Simulation is a major feature of the program, facilitating transfer of medical knowledge and procedural skills to the clinical care of the critically ill adult and child.
The program meets the CPD training requirements for the RACGP (Cat 1 CME activity) and ACRRM PDP program. The program qualifies for a three day procedural grant in Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine. The course meets minimum competency requirements for clinical privileging for the SA Department of Health
